By Michael A. Cooney, The Wall St. Journal A day after the death of former U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, the city of New York City is still reeling from the loss of the former vice president’s son, Anthony Biden.

The family is in mourning.

The Biden family has not commented publicly on the passing of Joe Biden Jr., but Anthony Biden Jr. told the New York Daily News that he and his father are going through “heartbreak” and that he is not sure where he will go.

The former vice presidential son, now the mayor of New Jersey, said he has not yet decided whether to pursue a presidential bid or run for office again.

But he said he wants to help make sure New Yorkers feel safe and secure in the future.

The funeral service for Anthony Biden, Jr. will be held Thursday in St. John the Baptist Church in the Queens borough of New Yorkers.

The elder Biden died Friday at the age of 95.

He served four terms in the Senate, most recently from 2006 to 2009, and had been a leading voice in Democratic politics in the Northeast for decades.

Anthony Biden Sr., who was a member of the House of Representatives from 1971 to 1985, was the first senator to be assassinated in the U.N. General Assembly.

He died on Aug. 3, 2024.
